Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery is pleased to announce the upcoming release of Homage a selection of photographs and videos by Irene Mamiye, launching on November 8th at brycewolkowitz.com.

Homage is inspired by imagery from the artist's childhood in Provence, France. Taking her past to the cutting edge of contemporary art, Irene Mamiye crafts nostalgia-driven images that capture the variability and fleetingness of our own memories.

Through her production, she seeks to explore the connection between the creative process and its results, while broadening the concept of photography beyond its traditional material and philosophical boundaries.

Mamiye's work merges sculpture, video, new media and code, to create a distinctive visual montage. Over many years, she has redefined her style, culminating in this new iteration of Homage.

Mamiye employs a technique known as image-scraping, which gathers vast amounts of photographs from online archives, web pages, and social media. Most recently, she's collaborated with coders, developing a script – creating unique works, based entirely on her chosen themes and attributes - generating unlimited unique outputs.

Homage is poised to make a bold and personal statement, blending various media to evoke a digitally summoned reverie of the past while addressing our future.

We are excited to share here our recent conversation with Irene Mamiye with Bryce Wolkowitz on our podcast Art On The Verge
